TEACHING EXPERIENCE:

1972 -79:  English Lecturer, Isle of Ely college of FE, Cambridgeshire.

 

THEATRE APPOINTMENTS:

1980 -1984: ARTISTIC DIRECTOR - FRESH CLAIMS THEATRE COMPANY*.

[* Fresh Claims became one of Wales' leading touring companies, achieving full revenue grant status from the Welsh Arts Council and touring extensively throughout Wales.  During this time I wrote dozens of songs for the various revues/community shows that played every major venue and most community centres throughout Wales.] 

 

1985 -1988: ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR - SHERMAN THEATRE, Cardiff. 

1988 - 1990: ARTISTIC DIRECTOR - SHERMAN THEATRE, Cardiff. *

[* The Sherman Theatre was and remains Cardiff’s only repertory theatre.]

Wrote/directed a musical adaptation of Henry Fielding's novel TOM JONES, touring extensively in England and Wales from Feb – May 1994.

RECENT THEATRE:

Mike's musical drama, 'Tom' - based on the early life of the singer Tom Jones – was commissioned by  Welsh theatre company Theatr Na Nog and  was first staged at his birthplace, Pontypridd on March 1st 2014, followed by a ten-week tour of Wales and the UK followed by a more extensive No 1 tour undertaken in 2016/17. It was directed by Geinor Styles.

 

In addition, Mike’s drama 'Somewhere in England' about the BBC's move to Bangor, Wales, during the war,  was commisioned  by Theatr Clwyd in October  2014 and directed by Pete Rowe and was based on an original idea by John Biggins.


And 'Jackie: the Musical' -  directed by Anna Linstrum and choreographed  by Arlene Phillips – was originally premiered in Dundee and  toured venues throughout the UK in 2016/2017.
