'Tom’ is a musical drama set in the Welsh valleys and London of the early sixties, telling the story of the early career of Tom Jones, one of Britain’s greatest ever international stars. The action takes place between 1956, just before a young Tommy Woodward marries his childhood sweetheart Linda, and the release of Tom Jones’ first hit record ‘It’s not unusual’ in 1965.

'Tom'  examines the violent rock and roll ethos of the late fifties, the blossoming talent of ‘Tiger’ Tom up and down the pubs and clubs of the valleys and the eventual success of Tom Jones at a time when both his looks and sound were unfashionable.

"The performance combines Mike James’ punchy dialogue with electrifying live music. 'Tom' was undoubtedly a feel–good production which will thrill audiences of Tom fans. It must be said however, that this production is more than that; what Theatr Na nOg have managed to produce is a very well executed show with impressive performances and brilliant live music. I enjoyed the entire performance from start to finish and congratulate Theatr Na Nog on such a successful and flattering homage to Wales’ finest treasures."
